In the present timeline, Millicent and Malik arrive at Jasper’s estate; Millicent exhibits deep concern for Poppy, who still sleeps. She explains why she ran after Isbeth’s death. As the Primal of Life, Poppy should take personal offense to Millicent’s existence as a Revenant. Millicent casually labels herself an abomination, though Malik disagrees. As such, she was worried that Poppy would instinctually kill her. Cas explains that Poppy would never do that, but he worries about what Poppy might be capable of if she forgets herself when she wakes.
Malik and Cas confront each other about past events. Although Cas now accepts Malik’s decision to remain in Solis for Millicent, he’s furious that Malik never communicated his intentions to Cas. Malik explains that nothing would have changed even if he had sent word to Cas. If Cas had known what Isbeth was planning, he would have had more reason to intervene. Malik apologizes for Cas’s suffering and guilt while trying to save him. Malik also endorses Cas as a far better king than Malik ever would have made, and the brothers laugh about their school lessons as children.
Malik explains that Callum, an ancient Revenant who supports Kolis’s return, has rallied the Revenants Isbeth created to support Kolis.
