An accomplished baker and host, Betsy Martin serves as the creator, judge, and host of the acclaimed baking competition show, Bake Week. Set in her family home of Grafton Manor in Vermont, Bake Week focuses on the competition between various amateur bakers who are hand-selected and judged by Betsy herself. However, the 10th season of the popular show marks a transition for Betsy as she is joined by new co-host and judge Archie Morris. Conscious of how her age is affecting public perception of her, Betsy resents the changes that threaten to strip her of the power and control she strives to maintain.
Betsy works to maintain Grafton Manor in the same way as her parents did. However, the rising costs of maintaining the deteriorating manor are a concern. Fueled by her rivalry with her showrunner, Melanie, and, to a lesser extent, with Archie, Betsy begins to unravel as the competition gets underway. She loses control over the unfolding of the show and belatedly realizes that one of her contestants, Lottie, is not who she seems. On the night of Archie’s death, Betsy reaches her breaking point.
