The second novel in the Whistler series picks up three years after the events of this novel. Lacy Stoltz is nearing 40 and is getting bored with her job with the BJC. Her relationship with Special Agent Allie Pacheco, although still great, is going nowhere. Then a new case comes along, one that could be even bigger than one that made her career.
The Innocence Project works to exonerate wrongfully convicted people and reform the legal system to reduce or prevent wrongful convictions. The project has branches in all or most states and regions of the US.
While both crime and incarceration rates have declined in the US since 2019, the nation still has one of the world’s highest incarceration rates.
